Each year, the color gurus at Pantone hone in on the single shade that will define trends in fashion, decor, beauty & more. This year’s hue? Marsala, a beautiful shade of rusty red, that is a welcome departure from Pantone’s selection in recent years’ past, when brights and jewel tones won color of the year honors.
Naturally, when the 2015 shade was announced in December, our thoughts immediately turned to wall art ideas. How could we bring the Marsala into our own work? Here, a few of the photos we’re saving for our inspiration gallery. Hopefully, they’ll spark your creativity, too!
1. This has got to be one of our favorite applications of the color. The Marsala-colored frames pop against the white wall.
2. Toille wallpaper — also making a comeback — in a beautiful shade of deep red would make a powder room pop.
3. For a contemporary spin on the color: geometric wall art in varying shades of Marsala red.
4. Deep red also makes a stunning backdrop for wall art.
5. Red always makes a statement, but its downright scene-stealing in a large scale art piece.
