4 Can’t Miss Spring Art Fairs in New York City

Have a blank wall that needs filling up? Now is a great time of year to be in the market for art in New York City, since springtime is when many of the city’s best art shows and fairs occur. From world-renown international events, to smaller niche fairs, the months of April and May offer a multitude of opportunities to play curator for your home.

Below, a few of our favorite spring art fairs in New York City.

1.The AIPAD ShowApril 16-19, 2015. The Association of International Photography Art Dealers’ show, also at the Park Avenue Armory this year, is celebrating its 35th year in 2015, making it the longest-running fine art photography show in the world.

2. Spring Masters New York. May 8-12, 2015. The Spring Masters show will return to the Park Avenue Armory for its second year. Unlike many of the art shows of the season, which cater to a specific period or region, the Spring Masters show touts its celebration of juxtaposition and collecting art across cultures and time periods. You’ll find Chinese contemporary art alongside Italian sculpture and 18th Century chippendale furniture from England, and more.

3. Frieze New YorkMay 14-17, 2015. The Frieze Art Fair, which takes place each year on Randall’s Island, is one of the world’s largest and most anticipated contemporary art fairs each year. The show brings together more than 1,000 artists and gallerists from around the world, and offers coinciding programing including Frieze Talks, a series of lectures, and Frieze Projects, artists commissions realized each year at the fair.

4. Art Miami New York. May 14-17, 2015. Art Miami, now in its second year, will bring together modern and contemporary artists from Toronto, to Milan, to Munich all at one New York location (this year, that’s Pier 94). The weekend will also offer many chances to learn about and delve deeper into the worlds of modern art. Art Miami’s programming includes special installations, industry symposiums, and a special area for children and families. As a bonus, VIP pass holders to Frieze will be granted complimentary access to Art Miami.
