Beach House Wall Art Ideas from the ILevel Archives

Summer is one of our favorite times here at ILevel, because we’re often called out of the city to install artwork and photos in beach houses and lakeside retreats around the New York area. Not only do these projects make for beautiful surroundings (and a scenic commute), but the style of the homes and artwork we’re installing are often much different than the urban city spaces we work in most often.

Inspired by our recent influx of summer home projects, we’ve put together a list of our favorite beach house wall art ideas.

1. All in a row. One of our favorite recent projects: Installing oars in various colors over the bed in a beach house guest room.

2. An eclectic arrangement. For this project, which we completed last summer, the homeowner created a subtle nod to the sea by hanging an eclectic array of wall art, including an antique nautical painting, on a painted shiplap wall.

3. Porthole mirrors. Another way to pay homage to a seaside locale without going over-the-top: concave porthole style mirrors, hung salon-style above a bed.

 4. A seashell scene. For those who prefer to embrace a coastal theme, beautiful framed seashell prints in a neutral palette make an elegant display.

5. Contemporary coast. Art doesn’t have to follow a nautical theme to be appropriate in a beach house. Here, we installed contemporary art that matched the home’s modern architecture, and let the scenery beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows serve as the coastal reference.

6. Perfectly plated. Instead of art, this homeowner opted to arrange a series of plates depicting seafaring scenes, and a display of antique fishing tools. We also love the rope-knotted wallpaper! beach house wall art ideas
