Each year, we eagerly await the Bergdorf Goodman Holiday Window. Well, t’is the season in New York, and the store has just unveiled the seasonal displays, and they’re stunning. From its architecture, couture clothing, housewares, and jewelry… all the way to its window display, Bergdorf’s is truly one of a kind. Because it is the only store of its kind, every detail of the window displays are painstakingly made by hand. This window of mosaic fish features a couture Alexander McQueen dress made out of sea shell. Everything but the dress (including the model’s headdress) was made by the lovely Brett Day Windham (who happens to be my girlfriend), and her team of amazing assistants. She started production of this window in March, and it may be the most labor intensive window the store has ever done. So next time you are walking down Fifth Avenue remember that artists spent most of their year gluing little glass tiles on those fish!
