There are a lot of ways to hang art on a wall.
No, we’re not talking about screws versus nails, we’re talking about the arrangement. You can hang art alone on a wall, so that it’s the focal point of a room. Or perhaps a work is part of a series that runs throughout the home, connecting each space. One of the biggest trends we’re seeing is hanging art grouped together, salon wall style. With this trend, the most important consideration is making sure the pieces work together. Whether that’s because they’re all a variation on a similar theme, or share a color scheme, something needs to connect the pieces in order for a gallery wall to work as a whole.
Here are some examples of walls that work, all recent ILevel projects, and why.
1. Hanging a series of photos or drawings is an instant way to create cohesion, like on this wall of floral postcards.
2. Similar to the photo above, the wall below uses blue-and-white porcelain plates that are part of a set.
3. In the hallway below, the pieces work together because they each share a vintage, 1930s aesthetic.
4. Here, the art on each wall is alike, but both walls are united by a common color scheme.
