Our Favorite NYC Artists on Instagram

New York City is full of talented artists. In fact, there are so many that it can be hard to actually discover new art you might love. Enter: Instagram. It’s not just a way to get an up close and personal look at the work and inspiration of the artists you love, but we’ve found it to be a great way to discover new talent, too, since nearly all artists and galleries these days have a presence on the social site. Here’s a list of a few of our favorite NYC artists, both newly discovered and long adored, on Instagram.

@OlekNYC. Olek is a truly one-of-a-kind artist known for her unusual medium, crochet. Her account is a mix of her work, her travels, and her daily life, which offers a glimpse into her inspiration.

@JeanPierreRoy. We first heard about Mr. Roy when he made the news for something very 2016: He sold one of his painting to Leonardo DiCaprio when the actor saw the image on Instagram.

@LaurieSimmons. Right now, Laurie Simmons might be most famous for being Lena Dunham’s mom, but she’s been a revered artist in her own right for decades. We love getting a glimpse at her life (and her daughter’s) through her account.

@StreetArtNYC. Technically, Street Art NYC isn’t an artist, but a collection of artists. It’s the Instagram account of the eponymous blog, which features news and editorials about street artists around the city.

@RaeBK. You could go on a scavenger hunt around New York City to find the work of famous Brooklyn street artist RAE, or, you could simply follow his Instagram, which also shows RAE’s work on paper, too.
