This has been one of the coldest winters we can remember in New York. The kind that makes you want to stay bundled inside and order all of your meals from Grub Hub.

But, as cold as the city is, the weather also reminds us why we like living here–because even when it’s below zero outside, there is still so much to do. One of our favorite indoor activities? Art shows, and luckily, there is no shortage of them coming up next month. Here are five that we’re most excited to see.

1. “City as Canvas: Graffiti Art from the Martin Wong Collection.” The first exhibition of Wong’s collection, amassed in the 1970s and 1980s while Wong was working at a Lower East Side paint store, will be on display at the Museum of the City of New York beginning February 4. It includes nearly 150 pieces from notable graffiti artists like Keith Haring and Lady Pink.

2. “Carrie Mae Weems: Three Decades of Photography and Video.” Weems’ show, at the Guggenheim through May 14, is part of a traveling 30-year retrospective. As an artist, she explores issues of race, class and gender.

3. “Richard Serra: New Sculpture.” This exhibition of the works of the minimalist sculptor is actually running at two of the Gagosian Galleries. His older pieces are on display at 555 W 24th Street, while newer ones are being shown at 522 W 21st Street.

4. “A World of Its Own: Photographic Practices in the Studio.” Opening February 8 at the Museum of Modern Art, this show “examines the ways in which photographers and artists using photography have worked and experimented within the four walls of the studio space.” It will feature more than 180 works from 90 artists.

5. “Report on the Construction of a Spaceship Module.” This show  is basically an entire floor of New Museum of Contemporary Art, turned into the interior of a futuristic spaceship by the artist collective, Tranzit.

Did we miss any good shows coming up?
