Besides art installing and hanging, ILevel also offers a number of other great services, including our family photo wall package, which helps families to choose and showcase their favorite memories in a beautiful way. Recently, we had the pleasure of installing such a wall in the pool house of a Greenwich, Connecticut-based family.
Charisse Photography of Darien, Conn., had been photographing the family for years, and the photo wall was to be the culmination of the process (incidentally, she was there to document the install, and her photos are scattered throughout this post). Jack, an ILevel employee, executed the installation to gorgeous results.
“The client/homeowner left the placement entirely to me,” Jack said of the project. “David [Kassel] advised the client in advance of the project to frame their black and white family photos with a simple white frame and matte. The result was a stunning presentation for the 36 photographs.”
The challenge in arranging the images was to utilize each piece and in a way that would allow the family’s guests to view them in an intimate way. “There were four obvious places in the great room to place the photographs, but I didn’t want to make the groupings dense,” Jack said. “I also had to work around four sconces, which ultimately helped to define the shape of the groupings. I had to think about using alternate space without making the pictures look forced or out of place. I used a common sight line to create a sense of cohesion among the eight separate groupings.”
Ultimately, says Jack, “I think we achieved a great balance in the great room and vestibule which showcased the gorgeous pictures. Each photo was carefully chosen and beautiful printed; there were no throwaways here.”
