How-to Guide: Methods for Hanging a Frameless Mirror

Hanging a mirror without a frame can be a little tricky. Unlike framed versions, frameless mirrors don’t have a sturdy attachment point for traditional hanging hardware, so special techniques must be used. However, the task is still fairly straightforward. Here are a few options you have when hanging a frameless mirror

1. Use custom hardware. This is our method of choice. We use custom steel brackets when hanging frameless mirrors because they are not only secure, but also hidden, which creates a beautiful visual effect. The custom mirror brackets we use can also be ordered in a variety of lengths, to make the mirror look like it’s “floating” off of the wall. Custom hardware will require a professional.

2. “Liquid nail” the mirror to the wall. Liquid nail is an adhesive used to bond the mirror to the wall. It works great with drywall if it’s done right, but it offers little in the way of flexibility: once the mirror is in place, it has to stay there, because removing it from the wall is both a difficult task, and it often creates damage to the surface (and the mirror).

3. Using mirror clips. This is probably the easiest method, but it also produces the least desirable visual results, since the clips can be seen surrounding the mirror. Mirror clips are usually only a secure option for mirrors with straight edges, too.
