Installing Art at The Kips Bay Decorator Show House

It’s always exciting to see our work in print, but especially when it’s in the New York Times. That was the case on Wednesday, when a room with pictures we’d hung at the Kips Bay Decorator Show House was featured in the Gray Lady.

Admittedly, though, it wasn’t just our work that was so newsworthy. The Kips Bay Decorator Show House is one of the largest displays of top interior design talent in one place. Plus, the annual fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of New York has raised $19 million since it began in 1973.

As for our part in the show house, we got to work with the incredibly skilled Juan Montoya (whose work is above) and Edward Lobrano.
In Montoya’s room, we were tasked with hanging a large, obscure and heavy piece by Colombian artist Olga de Amaral. It was a tricky task, but once in place, the results were nothing short of stunning. The piece was a perfect choice for the space.

As for Edward Lobrano, we couldn’t get enough of the bedroom he created — it was muted and traditional, but the contemporary textiles and art made it feel modern, too. The work above the headboard draws the eyes up and emphasizes the beautiful poster bed.

All in all, the show house is beautiful, and we’re so happy that we get to be a part of it each year. If you get a chance, make sure to stop by. You’ll be helping a good cause, and getting some serious design inspiration in the process!
