It’s officially spring! And with the changing seasons comes one of New York City’s busiest times in the arts and design communities. From world-renowned furniture shows, to city-wide design programming, and art exhibits that draw crowds in the tends of thousands, here are the top spring 2016 design and art events in New York City.

- NYC X Design, Citywide, May 3-17: Perhaps the city’s biggest design celebration all year, NYCxDesign rungs in tandem with major art and design fairs ICFF and Frieze, and encompasses two weeks of city-wide design shows, exhibitions, awards ceremonies and special programs dedicated to all manner of art and design. Among the most popular events in architecture and interiors: BKLYN Designs at the Brooklyn Expo Center, FIT and Parson’s annual graduating student exhibitions, and the DesignJunction + DWELLonDesign event at ArtBeam.
- ICFF, Javits Center, May 14-17: If you love to know what’s new and what’s next in the world of design, The International Contemporary Furniture Fair is a must-see. This year ICFF will bring together more than 750 of the world’s most cutting-edge modern furniture designers, manufacturers and exhibitors under one roof.
- Frieze Art Fair, Randall’s Island Park, May 5 – 8: Frieze is arguably the city’s most buzzed about art show all year. The show takes over Randall’s Island for three days each spring for a celebration of art from all over the world. Highlights include the show’s specially commissioned Frieze Projects, daily Frieze Talks and Conversations on Collecting series.
- WantedDesign NYC, Terminal Stores, May 13-16: 2016 marks the five year anniversary of WantedDesign. While the show is on the small side compared to ICFF and Frieze, it packs a big impact in terms of innovation, bringing together thought leaders in furniture, textiles, lighting, and decor for an exhibition, seminars, an awards series, and a launch pad that pairs budding designers with established manufacturers.
- WantedDesign Brooklyn, Industry City, Brooklyn, May 7-17: Last year, WantedDesign created a Brooklyn outpost to celebrate the borough’s growing identity as a creative hub for designers, artists, and manufacturers. Among the programming scheduled for this year include an opening night celebration, an expert-lead workshop, and the unveiling of the PlantsOnPink installation by Visual Magnetics.
