ILevel, NYC’s top art installation company, will host a series of solo art exhibits featuring their designers/art installers. All of ILevel’s employees install art by day, and make their own artwork in their free time. Carlos RM will kick-off this series with his very first solo show. An opening party will take place on October 17th from 6 pm to 8 pm at ILevel, Inc., 37 East 7th Street in NYC.

Born in Bogota, Colombia, Carlos started painting at age 9. He has participated in many group shows in his former home in Florida, including Art Basel, Miami and Cornell Art Museum in Delray Beach. His work has been featured in group shows in New York at Sotheby’s, the Novo Gallery, Castle-Fitzjohns Gallery, and at ILevel.

“I started painting at the age of 9 when I made my first oil painting. In my twenties, I met a Spanish artist and conservator and became his apprentice. I learned conservation and restoration techniques and developed my style of painting.

The content of my art is an effort to translate the stunningly bizarre and abstract dreams and day visions I experience. These dreams and visions inspire me. My practice is partially based on experimentation and constant search for innovation. Random spurs of action followed by intense observation and detail making. It is a sort of meditation.”
