It’s been a productive year at ILevel. We completed amazing installations for many of our longstanding clients and began relationships with new customers. We hired several new team members, and started a series of solo art exhibits of our designer/installers’ work. The holidays are a busy time of year for professional picture hangers. Clients acquire new pieces that need to be hung before holiday gatherings, guest room walls need freshening, and don’t forget to expand the family photo wall to include the visiting relatives!
Today we’re spreading holiday cheer by showcasing the coziest of our installations, sort of like the yule log of the professional picture hanger’s world: the installation over the fireplace. The fireplace is the focal point of a room, especially during chilly winter evenings and holiday celebrations. Here are a few examples of how our clients use the prime space over the fireplace.
This starburst mirror is just the thing for this minimalist fireplace. Imagine the lit fire as a warm, bright spark in this sleek room. The built-in bookcases are lightly accessorized, ceding center stage to this striking mirror. Acquiring a large mirror like this one is an ideal time to call in a professional picture hanger. Special hardware and technical expertise is a must when hanging heavy mirrors.
Tip: Mirrors add sparkling drama to a room. Place a mirror high on the wall over the fireplace to draw the eye upward and make the ceilings of any room look higher.
Here’s a classic mantle topped by a stunningly beautiful painting. The golden light in the painting shines in this otherwise neutral setting, making the painting the true focal point of the room.
Tip: Pick something that you love to fill this prime piece of wall real estate.
This cheerful spot works because of the matching chair upholstery and artwork above the fireplace. The horizontal piece makes the room appear wider and the overall effect is given a lift by the mirrored wall.
Tip: Use the artwork above the fireplace to pull together the colors in a room. For a mood change, think about swapping out your mantle accessories by the season.
The bold statement piece above the fireplace complements the contemporary furnishings in this New York City living room. The proportions of the painting almost match the mantle making this wall the centerpiece of the room. The painting is leaning on the mantle, rather than hung in the traditional way, adding to the modern vibe.
Tip: Don’t be afraid to pick a dynamic piece to match a neutral fireplace. And embrace the lean if it feels right.
